Guidelines for Adopting Appropriate Type of Machine Monitoring System (MMS)

A common problem facing the industry is that rotating equipment is damaged unknowingly or in a too short period of time to be able to handle it.
One reason is because of choosing the wrong type of Machine Monitoring System (MMS) or machine condition monitoring system or not having installed the MMS system.
There are 4 types of MMS systems:

Type 1 for the most critical machines Must know the condition all the time (Real-time Online), must analyze the initial damage by the system itself (Self Diagnostic) and must have a protection system to cut off the system automatically (Automatic Protection)

Type 2 for very important machines that must know the condition at all times and must be able to analyze the initial damage by the system itself

Type 3 for mid-range critical machines It is a machine that is waiting for analysis. It is not enough to know the condition all the time, for example, there may be measurement and analysis only 4 times a day, etc.

Type 4 for less critical machines Can wait for weekly or month level analysis.

Choosing the right MMS system for the type of machine is extremely necessary, for example, choosing the first system to use with less important machines will cause a rational waste of investment, or using the 4th system with machines that are less important. Very important, it can cause serious damage to the business without knowing it in advance.
